Sporting Lagos head coach, Paul Offor, has declared that his team can cope with the “big challenge” of playing in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) for the first time in their history.

He acknowledged that it is “a big season” for his club, stating that they are working to ensure that they achieve success at the end of the campaign.

“It’s a big season ahead for Sporting Lagos,” began Offor. “Thirty-eight match schedule is a big challenge for us as we will definitely cope with it.

“I’m confident in the players as we have a collective target in achieving success.”

Sporting Lagos are one of four clubs that secured promotion to the top division last season after playing for the first time in the second tier, the Nigeria National League (NNL).

Other promoted sides are Heartland, Katsina United and Kano Pillars – all making straight returns to the topflight after being relegated two seasons ago.

The new season is expected to kick off in September.
