Ahead of the 2026/27 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season, Bendel Insurance head coach/technical manager Kennedy Boboye has issued a challenge of improving on last season’s outing to his players.
Bendel Insurance finished in fifth place last term with 56 points, three beneath the top-three that would have guaranteed them at least a shot at continental football.
With a top-three mandate issued being the target at Bendel Insurance, Boboye did not mince words in telling his players to step things up for the coming campaign.
”I welcome everyone back and thank God we are back without health issues. Work has started. No room for indiscipline. We must do better than we did last season. The process begins today. We are expecting some new faces in the next new days. So,we have to receive them as members of Insurance family and work together as a team,” Boboye told the club’s players and officials at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City on Wednesday when they resumed for the new season.
He added that they needed to justify the club’s meeting up with their financial obligations by winning matches and improving on their overall performance.
”Management has assured us of improved welfare, so we have no reason not to deliver this time. We owe them and the fans winnings and fine football,” Boboye said.
Bendel Insurance players, including new signings, have until this Friday to resume at the GRA camp of the club in Benin City for pre-season activities.
