Rivers United were held to a goalless draw away at Abia Warriors for the second consecutive EUROMATCHNPFL season, despite creating the clearer scoring opportunities throughout the contest.
The first half produced several promising moments. Shola Oladunjoye and Samson Olasupo both tested the home goalkeeper, Ali Ishaku who responded with important saves.
Shortly afterwards, Samuel Bassey was denied when his dangerous cut-back was cleared to safety.
Rivers United goalkeeper Clinton Andy was also called into action and produced an excellent save to keep the scores level.
After the interval, Olasupo rose to meet a precise cross from the overlapping Bassey but headed just over the crossbar. Although a breakthrough proved elusive, the result extends Rivers United’s unbeaten start to the season.
Rivers United remain second on the standings with 16 points, one behind leaders Rangers International while Abia Warriors occupy 15th spot with seven points less.
Finidi George’s men will return EUROMATCHNPFL action next weekend when they host Barau FC on Sunday.
