Super Eagles and Nasarawa United defender, Victor Collins, is setting his sights high. The hard-tackling, left footed defender, known for his strong aerial ability and defensive prowess, has expressed his desire to contribute more goals to his team’s success in this season’s NPFL.

The Enugu-born centre-back scored his first league goal of the season in their 2-1 win over Bendel Insurance, on Wednesday, at the Laifa City Stadium, which also helped the side, to bounced back to winning ways.

Collins, who has previously played for clubs like Remo Stars and Amanat Baghdad, has been a key player for Nasarawa United. His defensive contributions have been crucial, but he’s now looking to add a new dimension to his game.

“I want to score more goals,” Collins said.

“I’m working hard on my attacking skills, especially set pieces. I believe I can contribute more to the team by scoring goals.”

This ambition is not unfounded. Collins’ physical attributes and aerial ability make him a threat in the opposition’s box, especially from corners and free kicks.

The defender also further expressed his satisfaction over the time he spent with Nigeria’s senior national team (the Super Eagles) saying he learnt a lot during the training session with the team, from the other senior players like William Troost-Ekong.

“Yes, of course, because I met some personalities during my time with the Super Eagles. So, it helped me to improve in a lot of things and not just on my game alone, but also my life as a person,” he said.

The Nasarawa United man was the only NPFL player included in the Super Eagles squad for the 2025 AFCON qualifiers against Benin Republic and Rwanda earlier this month.

He has already shown glimpses of his scoring potential, and with continued hard work, he could become a valuable asset in the attacking phase as well.

Nasarawa United fans will be excited to see Collins’ improvement and his impact on the team’s goal-scoring ability.

As he continues to strive for more, so far this season, he has been one of the outstanding defenders in the Nigerian Premier Football League.
