The Chairman of Abia Warriors, John Obuh has commended the players and officials of the club for recording their first away win of the season even as he reserved special praise for the technical crew headed by former Nigeria national Under-23 head coach, Imama Amapakabo for the team’s transformation.

‘Umu Chineke’ secured their first away victory of the season last Saturday with a 1-0 victory over their hosts, Bendel Insurance at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, in Benin City, a feat that catapulted the team to the fifth position on the league table.

The club supremo who paid a surprise visit to the players and officials after their evening training session, commended the players for the back-to-back victories and also challenged them to sustain the momentum by demonstrating collective determination even as they look forward to their Oriental derby with, Heartland of Owerri, this weekend in Umuahia.

A visibly elated Obuh also expressed his delight for the club’s midfield maestro, Innocent Godwin that was called to the senior national team ahead of African Nations Championship qualifiers against Ghana.

He expressed optimism that more players from the team will get national team invitation subsequently.
