Nine-time Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) winners, Enyimba and Bendel Insurance enjoyed slender victories in their rescheduled matches on Wednesday.

The People’s Elephant relied on substitute Austin Onyemaechi’s goal 16 minutes before time to edge past Akwa United in a tight contest at the Enyimba Stadium in Aba.

Onyemaechi, who joined Enyimba from champions Rangers International, needed 18 minutes after coming off the bench to replace Elijah Akanni, to score from an Imo Obot corner kick.

Enyimba return to winning ways after a 0-2 loss at Rivers United last weekend. The win takes Enyimba into third place behind leaders Remo Stars and Rivers United in second place.

The Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City witnessed a late, late goal in the final moments of additional time after 90 minutes. Bendel Insurance defeated Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) 1-0.

Michael Enaruna came off the bench to score the winner in the fourth minute of added time for Bendel Insurance to claim their first win of the campaign.

Matchweek 3 rearranged fixture will be concluded on Thursday when Rangers International play hosts to Bayelsa United at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu.
