Kwara United head coach, Tunde Sanni, has described Ikorodu City as “one of the strongest teams” in the Nigeria Premier Football League ahead of their opening day clash at the Kwara Sports Stadium on Sunday.

Sanni’s assertion surely stems from the fact that City finished in fourth place against all expectations in their debut campaign last season.

In addition to that, the Kwara United coach was in charge last term when the Oga Boys took four points off them in the two legs they faced off – winning 2-1 in Lagos and earning a point in a 0-0 draw in Ilorin.

Sanni also acknowledged that Ikorodu City can no longer be dismissed as an upstart in the top division.

However, he declared that Kwara United are “determined” to take the full points when both sides meet in the Matchweek 1 fixture.

“Ikorodu City is not a pushover; they are one of the strongest teams in the league. However, we are determined to secure maximum points here in Ilorin on Sunday,” Sanni said in his pre-match conference.

Kwara United captain, Afeez Musa, assured that the team are prepared for the season and wants the backing of the club supporters when they begin their campaign against Ikorodu City.

“We are fully prepared, and we are looking forward to giving our best. I urge all our fans to stand with us as we kick off the season,” Musa said.
