Newly-promoted Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) side, Kun Khalifat FC, have tied down one of their strikers, Alex Sunday Amaefula, to a contract until August 2030.
The contract extension for the youngster also represents a promotion from the club’s academy team to the first team ahead of the new season in the top-flight which begins this weekend.
Kun Khalifat FC handed the forward a new contract extension to fend off interests from other sides after Amaefula made his senior debut at a pre-season tournament in Bayelsa this month.
“Kun Khalifat FC and Amaefula Alex Sunday have agreed to extend the player’s contract, which will keep him at the club for the next five seasons, until August 2030,” a statement from the club read on Tuesday.
Amaefula has been at the club since the age of 13 since 2019 and came through the ranks.
The striker will now join up with Kun Khalifat FC’s setup ahead of their first-ever fixture in the NPFL against Rangers International scheduled for the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu this Sunday.
Last season, he scored seven times in the Nationwide League One (NLO) for the club’s academy in Nigeria’s third-tier level of club football.
