Former Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) champions, Kano Pillars, have announced the departure of their head coach, Usman Abd’Allah.
The club stated that Abd’Allah opted to “Step down” from his role owing to “personal reasons.”
“Kano Pillars can confirm that our Technical Adviser, Usman Abdallah, has stepped down from his role with immediate effect due to personal reasons.
“The gaffer informed the club management of his decision to vacate his position, citing the emergence of a significant opportunity which he believes cannot be combined with his current responsibilities without compromising either role. After careful discussions, both parties agreed it was in the best interest of the club’s future that he steps aside,” Kano Pillars stated.
Abd’Allah also took time to shed more light on his decision to leave the club after taking charge for just one season.
“Due to something important that has come my way, I have decided to step down as technical adviser of this great club. I had earlier informed the chairman of this development, and we mutually agreed that it is best I step aside so the club can appoint someone who can fully commit to driving the team forward.
“Though I am stepping down, I will continue to support Kano Pillars from afar and offer advice whenever needed. This club is our pride, and I am always willing to contribute to its success in any way possible.
“I sincerely thank the management for giving me the opportunity to lead this historic club and wish the team all the best in its future endeavour.
“What I will miss the most are the fans, their passion, resilience, and unwavering support were the biggest reasons I accepted the role. Thank you for everything,” said Abd’Allah.
Abd’Allah was appointed as head coach/technical adviser of Kano Pillars in August 2024. In the course of the just-concluded season, the coach was suspended in February this year for a run of poor results and his suspension was lifted in April which led to his guiding the club to finish ninth.
