From the ashes of their infamous Owerri triumph, Abia Warriors have transformed into an unstoppable force! Like warriors possessed, they tore through Lobi Stars with the ferocity of a raging storm. The attacking quartet of Sunday Megwo, Antoine Desouza Ijoma, Adejoh Ojonugwa, and Paul Samson danced through defences like poets scripting a masterpiece.
Samson, the orchestrator-in-chief, delivered a pinpoint cross in the 24th minute, allowing Megwo to smash home the opener. Lobi, already on the ropes, had their fate sealed when Ijoma struck deep into added time, further cementing Abia Warriors’ grip on a continental ticket.
Meanwhile, Rivers United’s CAF Champions League dreams suffered a serious dent in Yenagoa, where a desperate Bayelsa United, fighting for survival, stunned the Pride of Rivers. Kehinde Malik’s 19th-minute strike was enough to secure a massive three points for the Restoration Boys, leaving Rivers United reeling.

Their hopes for a turnaround were dashed by a resolute Heartland side, who held firm for a goalless draw, leaving the Owena Whales searching for answers. In Kano, Pillars found themselves frustrated by Bendel Insurance’s rock-solid defence, as the Benin Arsenal stood tall to claim a hard-fought share of the spoils.
