Lobi Stars have begun the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season on an unbeaten note, and the Benue club are hoping to keep that form guide going when they play hosts to Abia Warriors at the Lafia City Stadium this Saturday.
The club’s interim head coach, Eugene Agagbe and striker Samuel Tiza believe they have the momentum to see off Abia Warriors who in third place after three matchweeks.
Agagbe said the team know what task lies ahead of them and are “working hard for this weekend’s game.”
He added that he is working with his players on how to approach the match against Abia Warriors.
“We know we have a task ahead. We’re working very hard for this weekend’s game and our target is the three points. We are confident of winning the game on Saturday and that will put us in a good frame of mind.
“We have a target for the season and at the beginning of this season, we are working towards that target. Our approach for the game (against Abia Warriors) will be different from the one at Katsina United,” Agagbe told Lobi Stars media.
Tiza has enjoyed a good start to the season, scoring twice in three matches. He hopes the team can continue their fine run of form on Saturday against Abia Warriors amidst individual and club target for the season.
“It has been a very good start for us, Lobi Stars as a team and as an individual. We’ve played three matches so far – one win at home and two draws away from home, that’s five points and we are hoping to do better.
“Of course, I have a safe target (for my goalscoring ambition this season) and also as a team. I want to help Lobi Stars to achieve the needed success. We have a target of winning the league or hoping to play on the continent next season. I am hoping to be a part of that success.
“We are fully prepared for the game and hoping to take the three points. The team, that is my teammates, are ready and as an individual I am ready as well. The camp is in good spirit and we are hoping to win,” Tiza said to the club’s media.
The Lobi Stars versus Abia Warriors match is live on the NPFL-Live app from 4pm Nigerian time this Saturday.
